Reasons of the home-region orientation of international companies

Even though many investigations in international management research assume that international companies are acting globally, empirical research shows that even the largest international companies focus their turnovers and foreign investments on the continent, on which their headquarter is located. As to date there is no convincing explanation of this surprisingly strong home-region orientation, we include various existing partial explanations from business science theories.  An additional goal of this project is to develop a set of verifiable hypotheses, specifiying which international companies are specifically home-region orientated.
